Nonsense Is No Nonsense
What
does a writer of creative fiction need? A writer needs “the noble gift of
nonsense, which of all things elevates man nearest the gods.”

This Poem Is Dedicated to Soledad Quietus
You’re
the
Topmost
upmost utmost
Ghost
(How
I’d like to get to know you better),
Sitting
on the
Upmost
utmost uttermost
Post
(How
I’d like to get to know you better),
Standing
on the
Westmost
eastmost furthermost
Coast
(How
I’d like to get to know you better),
Gnawing
on the
Cooked
most burntmost turkeyleg
Roast.
How
I’d like to get to know you better,
How
I’d like to help you eat that roast,
Bet
it tastes quite fine with burnt black toast.
You’re
the
Utmost
upmost toppermost uttermost
Lastmost
vastmost
Ghost.
